Where in the World is Kalissa Friedman?

I’ve been MIA the past month so I wanted to catch you up on what I’ve been up to!

I’ve been playing outside with my boys…Gannon loves to “fill up my tires” with the hose! It cracks me up! He wears a bike helmet all around outside no matter what he is doing. He would play outside all day long if I would let him! We’ve gone on a few walks too – I hope to fit more in this Summer!

I’ve been dreaming about buying the house next door – it’s going up for foreclosure auction here in the next few weeks. It used to be an old funeral home – it’s to the point where it is no longer salvageable but I’m dreaming of snagging it for lot price, harvesting the wood work, and tearing it down! Craig says NO!!!! A girl can dream… We’ve been inside several times, this isn’t the first time we’ve discussed it.

I’ve been packaging orders like a mad woman – I had 42 orders over the weekend – WOWZA! The Blessed are the Piecemakers shirts are flying off of the shelves. V-necks were in stock and now already out of stock! I never dreamed my Etsy shop would have taken off like this! I’m so enjoying it! You can bet every single order had a handwritten thank you note in it, I’m so grateful for all of the support! While I love my Etsy shop, it takes up my time I would normally take to write blog posts so that’s why I’ve been a little MIA! Here is a link to my shop! Always remember: PINK10 gets you 10% off of your order and if you buy two shirts you get FREE shipping! I’ve got just a tiny bit left of the Blessed are the Piecemakers shirts so go get yours if you’ve been sleeping on it!

I’ve been unsuccessfully potty training Gannon – he’s just NOT ready yet! Some kids aren’t! It’s all good – I can be patient. I wish he could be more like his cousin Georgia – she’s rocking the potty training game.

I’ve been outside as much as possible whether that’s biking, hiking, or even just yard work, this sun is good for my soul. Northeast Iowa has had a COLD May and we are in for a HOT June and personally, I’m totally cool with that.

and I’ve been on romantic date nights under our swingset watching the sunset with Craigy 🙂

But mostly, when I’m not working I’m just trying to keep afloat. I’ve been working TOO MUCH this past month, I’m a little burnt out if I’m honest. I’m working to be so much more intentional with my June and July – I’ve got to take advantage of the sunshine! This is a nice and happy blog post but honestly, it’s been a rough month with not much time to myself. In contrast to the pictures, my mental health isn’t in a great place. I’m kind of in my “slug” mode that I was in April – foggy, sleepy, abdominal pain, bloating, cranky. I’ve got good days and bad days. I’m working to keep track of my symptoms so I can find a pattern and see a doctor. I really don’t think it is food related like I did at one point in time. I’m just not sure.

Any who, that’s what I’ve got folks. I hope to keep you better updated on my life in the next few weeks but I’m not going to kill myself just to get a blog post out there. I’ve gotta make myself a priority because I didn’t last month and I’m feeling it this month! Thanks for reading!

I love the Sunshine State of Mind shirt, but that color does nothing for me. Maybe blue, red, yellow . . . hint, hint. I already have two of yours. I love them.

I don’t remember if you’ve ever said if you’ve been checked for celiac disease. Even if you have in the past, it can be negative and then some time later be positive. That’s what happened with one of my kids — they were all tested after I was found to have celiac disease. My daughter had it but my sons didn’t. Four or five years later we tested the boys for the genes (which they both had) and then retested for celiac and by that point, one of my boys had celiac, too. Really hoping my third kid never gets it!

Anyway, there can be a whole variety of symptoms, including those you mentioned, or no real symptoms, but if you have it, then eating gluten (wheat, rye, barley, malt made from any of those things) messes up the villi in your small intestine which can cause lots of problems.

I hope you get it figured out! Hang in there, and enjoy that family! 🙂

My husband and I have 3 children, 2 boys and then a daughter. The daughter was so much easier to potty train and did so at a much earlier age than the boys. You can’t compare Gannon to Georgia, it will just frustrate you. Enjoy the sunshine!
