This n’ That – August 2022 Edition

My this n’ that posts are usually just a conglomeration of things that have been happening in the Friedman fam in the past month or so. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted one!

Craig has been home more this month, he even had a whole week off which was AWESOME to have him around. We had our family vacation in Northern MN (read more on that here) and then by the time we got home we had a ton of appointments and a mile long to do list. Craig filled our sandbox and the boys are SO EXCITED! It will be great to kick the boys outside this Fall to play now that we are taking the pool down and cleaning up some of our outside Summer toys. Gannon just loves playing in the sandbox at Grandma Jo’s so he will be thrilled to have one at home.

Craig and I had a great morning in town, he had a doctor’s appointment and then we both had an eye doctor appointment. I sent him in to get a few groceries and pump gas while I sat in the car and snapped his picture. It was so nice to let him do some of the work for me! šŸ™‚ We had a great day together.

My sister Kelli found this fly trap on Amazon, then my mom got one, then I had to get one! I love it! It looks like a night light but it catches bugs! It doesn’t catch flies as well as I’d like, but it does catch fruit flies very well! You can get one here: https://amzn.to/3wdIUEM

I spent last Saturday down at my brother’s house and got to play with my nieces and nephew. I was scrolling my memories on Facebook when I came across the picture on the left – what are the odds! Exactly two years ago in 2020 I took the picture on the left and I just so happened to be spending time with them on the same day 2 years later so we needed to remake the picture with the addition of Lilly! Can you believe how much they’ve all grown? From left to right it is Scotty, Carver, Gannon, Lilly and Lucy!

Gannon was so excited to get fitted for his orthotic braces (read more on that here) – I snapped that picture of him while we were in the office picking them up. However, we’ve yet to be able to find a shoe that will actually fit the braces, this is something we’ve struggled with in the past too. I’ve dropped about $200 on a few pairs only to return them. Now I’m on to round two of trying to find more shoes that will work.

I was very excited about the red and black shoes, Gannon was too. They were advertised as shoes that would fit SMOs but after 20 minutes of trying to get one shoe on, I was sweating and OVER IT! I placed a post in the Ehlers Danlos support group and many parents suggested the shoe on the right – Billy Shoes so we will give them a try along with another Nike zipper shoe called FlyEase.

One mom left a review that was very validating. She said “I have scraped knuckles, broken fingernails, ripped velcro, sweated and cried over trying to get shoes on over his braces.” This is no exaggeration, it’s REALLY hard to get shoes on, I just about threw my back out and was sweating! I thought I was just weak but then seeing her review, I felt that! IT’S HARD!

That’s all I have for now folks! Thanks for tuning in!

How nice to have Craig home for such a long period, harvest is coming soon enough. Happy that your family was able to get a vacation in and the trip looked amazing and so much fun. Hope you are still feeling good and delivery date is getting closer. Enjoy the fall weather and the changing of the seasons.
