The Sweetest Thing <3

Many of you on Facebook have already seen the video, but Gannon got a BIG surprise from his pre-school class! Gannon has been out of school the entire month of December. Craig works with Jerry at the farm. Jerry is a wonderful community member on the fire department, he goes to the school on fire safety week to present to all the kids (and even did that when I was in school) and was my bus driver as a kid for many years. He’s not even our current bus driver, but he is still a bus driver for the district and he wanted to surprise Gannon.

He contacted Gannon’s preschool teacher who hatched a plan to take Gannon’s class on a field trip to our driveway so his classmates could sing him a song they’ve been working on. There was some back and forth on the dates and times but all was settled and it was go time! I made little gift bags with some treats for his class mates and they even brought Gannon a gift. They’ve already sent a “Get well soon!” card home for him, they’ve coordinated Zoom calls so Gannon can see his class mates, and then they also planned this.

Here is a link to the video, you’ve gotta see it for yourself! https://www.facebook.com/1482453628/videos/484708740474591/

It’s gone kind of viral on tiktok with over 500,000 views! It’s definitely the heartwarming kind of Christmas feels we all need right now! We are SO SO thankful for all our school has done to keep Gannon included. We will never forget it and they’ll never understand how much it means to us.

We are all hunkered down here in Iowa – the entire state is under a blizzard warning with -40 or so below wind chill. The wind is WILD. I’m sitting at my dining room table witnessing some EPIC board games between Carver, Karl (my brother) and Craig.

What a wonderful surprise for Gannon and how nice that they could come and see him, Your community has knocked out of the park showing kindness. I hope he continues to get well and back to his regular routine.
