As in it was “extra ordinary” not extraordinary.
Carver worked very hard on his Valentines…about as hard as a 3 year old can work…which isn’t very hard. He “wrote” about three names on Valentines. He then got himself tangled in the tape. He got mad when Gannon wanted to help. So in conclusion, I worked very hard on Carver’s Valentines.

Here is Carver’s note to me:

It says “I love you mommy!” (according to Carver) Don’t you see it?
I was up bright and early by 0600 for my last day of clinicals with my first year students! They were such a fun group but I will definitley NOT book myself like I did this semester.
36 hours/week in ER + 18 hours/week with final semester students + 14 hours/week with first year students = 68 hours/week for the past three weeks.
I’m so ready for things to slow down. Lesson LEARNED!
After clinicals I called Craig and my mom to meet up for lunch! Craig took his lunch break at my mom’s after the daycare kids laid down for nap we had a quick lunch with take out food from our favorite restaurant The Fort. Their wings are superb. We were in a goofy mood. Mom was showing off her pants. She accidentally wore them in public at the gas station this morning and was told she looked very “festive” 🙂

Here is my romantic Valentine’s dinner with my husband Craig (and my mom.) I’m wearing my whites from clinicals and he’s still in his farm cloths. Mom made chocolate chip cookies for dessert! We don’t exchange gifts for Valentine’s day. In fact, we barely crossed paths other than for lunch!

On a side note, I finally feel like I can see a huge difference in my smile since getting braces! I hope I might be able to get them off early! They initially told me 1 – 1.5 years but then they told me 1.5 – 2 years but at my last visit he said I was making great progress so we will see!
I went home after lunch and got a few hours of rest in before I went in to work overnight. I so wish I could have been able to spend the afternoon with the boys but I’m so so far behind on sleep. Again, no need for mom shaming or workaholic shaming – I know I overbooked. I went home to nap.
After that, I went and picked the boys up from childcare. Here’s a funny Carver quote for you from the ride home across town:
Carver: “Mom! Be careful so you don’t go in the ditch or a tow truck will have to come and rescue you!”
Mom: “Wow Carver! Rescue is a big word! Do you know what that means?”
Carver: “Uhm…I think it goes on a sandwich or something?”
I got to spend some one on one time with Gannon and this goofy goober as he opened his Valentines. He was so excited about his candy!

He had never seen a candy bracelet before and was so excited.

The boys are off to Grandma Debbie and Papa Kebin’s house (Craig’s mom and dad’s house) for the weekend. We will pick them up on Sunday so I can see them again before work on Sunday night. I work tonight and tomorrow night and I have about 24 hours off from Monday at 0700 am and Tuesday at 0600 am which is much needed.
I remember feeling so lonely on Valentine’s Day in high school when I didn’t have anyone to share it with but today was a great Valentines day! I hope you all enjoyed yours as well! I sent my mom flowers but I didn’t get anyone else any gifts. Did you do anything fun? Did you get any flowers or gifts? Do you hate Valentines Day like I used to?
There’s nothing wrong with looking “festive.” Seeing pictures from my grandson’s high school, flannel lounge pants in public might be making a comeback. Don’t think we can even call that “festive.”
You were keepin’ it real at your Valentine’s lunch! I don’t even remember what we ate. I do envy you the homemade choco-chip cookies though!
I got the Valentine my daughter addressed a year ago but did not mail until this year……
Glad you got to spend time with those you love on Valentine’s Day!! Always a good thing! About the braces…I had them twice – first as a kid, second because of TMJ implant failure…I would suggest that when you get your braces off and are “finished” with wearing retainers, that you continue to wear your retainers at night, just to keep your teeth where they belong. One of my daughter’s ended up needing Invisiliners as an adult because her teeth moved and she wishes she had followed my lead with the retainers. You are paying a pretty penny for those gorgeous teeth…popping in the retainers before bed isn’t a hardship to keep them gorgeous. So glad your schedule has eased a bit and you can breathe!! Of course I can tell that note from Carver says “I love you, Mommy”!!
Love Carters letter to you and his WISE words! LOL. Enjoyed your nap I bet and yes you overbooked… but what nurse hasn’t??????
