COVID takes over Friedman Fam

Where have we been?

Home. We’ve all been doing NOTHING since Saturday. This is quite possibly the longest amount of time we’ve all spent at home with each other – EVER. We’ve been quarantining together because – you guessed it – we all have COVID.

We were so darn close to be vaccinated and putting this all behind us. Thankfully we haven’t seen my mom at all so there’s no chance we gave it to her. We aren’t sure exactly where we got it from. We all came down with it around the same 12 hours.

Carver and Gannon are both on steroids because they BOTH got croup from it – Gannon is wheezing too so we’ve got to keep a closer eye on him – he is the “underlying conditions” kind of kid. Craig is doing okay – considering his history of asthma I’m nervous to see how he will fair in a week or so.

We are all achy and sore and feverish and tired. Lots of naps, lots of snuggles. We’ve been watching the Queen’s Gambit which I highly highly highly recommend.

I’m off of work through the 20th, return on the 21st with full pay which is amazing and we are so grateful for. Just gotta keep truckin.

The most frustrating part of all of the symptoms is not being able to taste or smell. I made the world’s nastiest smoothie – cauliflower, cabbage, some random flavored yogurt, water, protein powder, whatever produce I could find in the fridge and made it into a smoothie and drank it because I can’t taste or smell a thing. Where as I would love to cook and bake and try new recipes, now is not the time.

Carver and Gannon were essentially raising themselves yesterday because we felt so lousy and they had an infinite amount of energy. Here they are playing together:

Carver still checks in with his class every day via zoom – his teacher is just stellar. I can’t say how much we appreciate her and her dedication to keep Carver involved. Carver was so excited to show Gannon his classroom – here they are:

Anywho, that’s where we are and where we will be until the foreseeable future. Praying that we didn’t give it to anyone, praying we make it through okay, I’m especially worried about Gannon. We will see what happens. Thanks for checking in!

I am sorry you all have to experience this plague. It seems to be every where. My son-in-law has it. My sister just lost her mother-in-law to it. I am afraid we might get it. We are over 70, and my husband wouldn’t survive the infection.. Heal quickly and stay safe, I will pray for complete recoveries.

My daughter and her family all had it, too, so I completely sympathize with you and yours. You’re doing exactly the right thing – rest, rest, rest.

Sorry to hear you guys came down with Covid. This is probably a really stupid question, but your immunization, was it too late , after you were exposed? Sweet picture of the boys “at school”.

Prayers for your family. My husband got the vaccine today as a frontline worker. He’s nursing a sore arm tonight. My daughters, husband and baby had it and all recovered. Thankfully they had mild symptoms. Take care!

Been there, done that! Sorry your family had to come down with it. I came down with it the day after our family Christmas. The beginning symptoms could have been anything, but when the smell & taste went, I knew. The miracle of it all is that nobody who was here got it from me. I had to be contagious that Sunday before Christmas when they were here. My husband said he was never sick either though he seemed pretty droopy and was taking the same stuff I was….D3, zinc, quercetin, mucinex, homemade elderberry brew, extras strength tylenol w/aspirin for that stubborn fever that would kick in late afternoon/early evening for me. I think maybe he didn’t realize “sick” with Covid isn’t quite the same as “sick” with the stomach flu or something. The good news is we’re over it & smell and taste is back. Sure do hope your family can say the same in a while. Take care.

Considering how careful you have been as a family, who knows where it came from! Hope you all recover quickly!! So glad the boys can play together nicely…hard when both parents are sick with no energy and they are like the Energizer Bunny!! It is a total blessing that you will be getting paid to stay home and recover! Praying for you.

I’m sorry you all have Covid. I hope the boys kick the croup quickly and Craig’s asthma isn’t exacerbated.

As to tracing and where? Anyone else that attended the wedding sick?

Get well Freidmans. Hugs to you all.

How many days had passed since your first vaccine? Just curious. Would be good data to collect for the CDC and maybe we all should have antibody testing following our second shot.
