Checking In!

I’m feeling more like myself all the time now. As many know, I’ve been OVERWHELMINGLY nauseated and sick the past 6 weeks with my third pregnancy and I’m starting to get glimpses of normalcy here and there.

For example, today I’ve only thrown up twice! That’s a huge accomplishment. It’s gotten pretty predictable which is helpful. There are at least breaks in the nausea. This week’s foods that seem to be agreeing with me are peaches, cottage cheese, corn chips and blueberry bagels. When I say that those seem to be agreeing with me, I literally eat nothing else. Usually, with the boys in my first trimester I gain around 7-10 lbs but I’m actually down about that much so far. But, I’ve got a few scrub tops that no longer fit me so I know the bump is coming.

I felt like writing a blog post today which is also new! My intention when I have built my blog and my t shirt business is that I create something that I can come back to – I can pick it up and run full speed for a season and then also just coast for a season. I’ve been fulfilling Etsy orders weekly – I’m surprised at how many orders I get with little to no marketing but I’ve got between 5 and 10 orders that are still shipping out weekly!

It’s been beautiful this week in Iowa and the sunshine has been SO WONDERFUL. I think that’s really helped brighten things as well. The boys have been running amuck and the mud/dirt on my floors have the proof. I don’t mind too much.

Gannon got registered for 3 year old preschool this week! He will start in the Fall. I’m about a month into my travel job and its very different from what I’m used to but I like it. I went from a big hospital back down to a really small hospital and there’s just some getting used to with that transition but overall going well. I’ve got the next week or so mostly off so I’m excited to be feeling better and I’ll hopefully enjoy my time off vs. spending it on the couch.

We took the boys to an indoor pool last Sunday – they had SO MUCH FUN and we did too! We can’t wait to set up our pool (if you’re in the market for a pool, snag yours now as quick as you can, I got the same one we got in 2020 off of Amazon!) and play in our own backyard this Summer. The boys need some swimming lessons – they are super nervous to go under water but love to jump in the shallow end over and over. After the pool we went and got some food and I snagged this picture at the restaurant.

We can’t wait to get the bikes out and fired up for the season! We had our first bike ride the other day and it was wonderful. Carver is so excited about biking and we have gotten Gannon on the bike a few times too. I forgot how hard it is to teach kids how to ride bikes, if they don’t get it they don’t get it! We will keep persisting though. I remember we went through this with Carver too, it just takes time.

I’ve actually got a few posts ready for this week so check back again! Thanks for reading, it feels good to be (kind of) back!

Many years ago I helped Down Syndrome babies swim at the YWCA. We held these babies in front of us and dunked them under the water. We showed the babies, who were about 9-12 months old, how to take a mouthful of air before dunking them. They learned immediately. It was amazing to me how quickly these babies learned to dog paddle across the pool. They would jump in the pool and go under the water and bob up so quickly. Take your boys in your arms facing you and teach them how to hold their breath, then dunk them. They will learn it’s OK.

So glad that you are feeling better and that you are enjoying the new job. A trip to the pool, a bike ride and a meal out sounds like a perfect fun day.
