Auntia Sassa

I. LOVE. BEING. AN. AUNTIE. <3

Seriously, it’s one of mine and Craig’s favorite things, we love being Auntie Sassa and Uncle Craig and we happen to have had plenty of opportunities to do so lately.

There’s a unique advantage to living to close to my mom, whenever my siblings come home to see my mom, I head over to her house across town and I get to see my nieces and nephews all the time! Our boys see their cousins, even their cousins who live far away, at least twice a month! We’re a very close knit group.

So my oldest sister Kelli has Georgia, Emmett and Eli. Emmett and Eli are twins. I’m either Eli or Emmett’s godmother, I honestly can’t even remember which one. Georgia gave me the nick name Auntie Sassa and it stuck ever since!

My sister Kayla has Jasper, I’m Jasper’s godmother. Jasper will be two in January and my boys LOVE playing with Jasper! He’s got the bluest eyes ever! We see Jasper often because they come for a few days at a time. Kayla came over and helped me package order the other morning while she was home. Kayla and I both have Etsy shops and an entrepreneurial spirit.

My oldest brother Kasjen (we still call him Buck, his childhood nick name) has Scotty, Lucy, and Lilly with Lora. Scotty is 16 months older than Carver, then Carver is 16 months older than Lucy, then Lucy is 16 months older than Gannon/Georgia – all lined up right in a row. So those 4/5 really get along and play well together. Lucy and I have a particularly special bond. First of all, Lucy is HILARIOUS and I’m always cracking up! She just turned 4 the other day!

As soon as I see Lucy, I do her hair. Usually I do pig tails and braids. I got a little fancy the other night when I saw her. I’ve started to do this tradition with Lilly too – she’ll turn two in April so I want to get to do her hair every time I see her too! I finished up Lucy’s hair and she said “I’m A BEAUTIFUL HORSE!” and continued to gallop around the house for hours.

The other day Buck had mom watch the kiddos but she needed to run an errand – I was happy to come hang! We wrote our wish lists to Santa and everyone got to make their own pretzels and roll and taste the dough.

I’m so fortunate to get along so well with all of my siblings and I’m even luckier to get to be a part of these kiddos lives. Being an Auntie is seriously just one of my favorite things ever.

What wonderful memories you are making being Auntie Sassa. Your nieces and nephews are the lucky ones and I hope they come to appreciate you. I love the idea of making pretzels, what a fun event with them all.

You are definitely blessed with your family! I wish my kids and grands all lived closer, but they are spread between Washington (2 kids, 4 grands with one due this spring), Idaho (2 kids, 2 grands), Oklahoma (1 kid, 2 grands), Texas (1 kid, 2 grands) and Georgia (1 kid, 1 grand) and the grands range in age from 14 down to 10 months. Can you imagine the crazy if we were able to all get together??!! Enjoy being Auntie Sassa to all the wonderful kiddos. Just waiting for Karl to add to the awesome spouses and babies…if y’all want them close in age, he needs to get a move on!!
