Another Manic Monday….

I don’t think the title is fitting. I had a crazy week but crazy isn’t quite enough to describe it! I started out this blog post as making a weeks worth of life recap but Monday took up way too much room so I’ll start with Monday.

While I’m on maternity leave, my mom and I love to go on spontaneous adventures. I’ve got nothing much to do an Anders is a great tag along! Mom called and asked if I wanted to go with her to pick up her new foster puppy, Annie. I said SURE!

We both put in a WalMart pickup order (which is just my favorite way to shop!) My mom recently got a Keurig at her house and I LOVE stopping over for a cup of coffee! I decided to add one to my pick up order. After WalMart we were killing some time and went to the Depot – my FAVORITE thrift store (Mom goes there ALL the time).

You may have seen my recent instagram posts of Carver and Gannon wearing their Buzz Lightyear and Woody costumes – they LOVE playing dress up! While I was at the depot, all costumes were just $1! I stocked WAY up on Captain America, Iron Man, Ninja Turtles, Darth Vader and all of the costumes! Here they are all dressed up. What a simple way to encourage creative play and it was so cheap! There I am all excited about my box of goodies!

By now, I needed to pump. I’m breastfeeding Anders and it is going really well. I got out my portable breast pump, got hooked up and ready to go….when I was finished I realized WHOOPS! One of the cups were placed upside down and had totally soaked my shirt without realizing it! By now Anders was getting FUSSY and needed a bottle but the milk hadn’t gotten to where it needed to be. I had just enough to give him 2 ounces of breast milk but he was still hungry.

I haven’t needed to buy or pack any formula in the month that I’ve had him so I didn’t have any on hand. I had to run to the grocery store and buy a can of formula and a bottle of water to try to sooth my now screaming infant. I felt so bad for him! Lesson learned! I’ve got a can of formula in the diaper bag now! Thank goodness my jean jacket was enough to cover me up so I could take my soaking wet milky shirt off!

Next up, we were off to get Annie. You can read mom’s blog post about Annie here: https://www.joscountryjunction.com/meet-annie/ Just down the street was Ace the Kitchen Place. I’ve been eyeing a stand up mixer for a long time but I just don’t have it in me to spend $300-$400 on a KitchenAid one. I stopped in to browse and the sales lady actually said that Cuisnart has a very comparable stand up mixer that was about half the price! She said they get excellent reviews, they just don’t have all the extra attachments (which I wouldn’t use anyway). Mom left with a new puppy and I left with a new mixer!

It sits beautifully on my counter (I have a LOT of counter) right next to my new Keurig! I’m super excited but I don’t quite have the time yet to use it. Especially considering how wild my week was about to get! That’s more for another post. Thanks for reading!
