A Sunny Saturday

Saturday morning I got off work at 7:30 – I had 36 hours home before I headed back to work another stretch of nights. I wanted to make the most of my time.

While Craig was still in the combine at the time (they finished on Sunday night), I was looking forward to a family day when mom asked if we wanted to venture to Amish land!

We live about a half hour north of an Amish community and we visit regularly for their delicious homemade bread, rolls, and discount grocery stores.

The boys stopped and got their whoopie pies, I got my bacon cheese and a bismark doughnut, mom got her usual roll and then we had a surprise for the boys:

We went to Fontana County Park – a beautiful wildlife rescue, lake, nature trails, camping sites, cabins, a nature center, and a paved walking trail. The walking trail was covered in chalk – one said “STOMP LIKE A DINASOAR!” or “TWIRL!” Here Carver followed a maze and mom was twirling – it was such a good idea for a walking trail! We had so much fun!

We especially loved the animals – they have ducks, an eagle, a skunk, several fox, a hawk – there are different animals every time we come. They usually have a bear but the bear must have been healed and released again.

It was a great morning had by all – sometimes just the simplest things.

After that we stopped at Fareway and I lost my phone in the store – whoops! I bent down to get some pop off the bottom rack, the phone fell out of my pocket – Gannon was running off so I ran after him and totally forgot about it! Thank goodness someone turned it into the front desk. Whoops!

That’s all I know folks – I’ve got three days at home with the boys – Craig got off at 3 pm and we went out to eat as a family after we all got our flu shot! So so thankful to be getting back to normal!
