A Rainy Afternoon

Picture this: I’m laying on my couch, it’s 2:30 pm, Carver is playing in the toy room, Gannon is napping, I’m icing my shoulder waiting for the Tylenol and ibuprofen to kick in, Betsy is giving me snuggles, the house is clean, the toys are sorted, I’m taking in my new pumpkin spice febreeze, and I’ve got Dateline playing in my air bud. It’s been raining all morning here – about 40 degrees.

I love my boys. I love love love being home with them. But I love love love being home with them WHEN THEY CAN PLAY OUTSIDE! Gannon has thrown several fits as he tries to sneak outside to play in the rain and we have to bring him back inside.

I think the boys have dumped out and cleaned up and re dumped out every toy we own. They have been playing so well together lately but I’m so sick of cleaning up over and over and over again.

Carver and I got some good quality toy sorting in today. Craig came home for lunch which is unusual. We only live 3 miles from the farm and he was soaking wet by noon so I warmed him up some food, he came home to change clothes after working in the rain all morning.

Then tonight when he came home, he staged an intervention after he found my UGG boots out and the house was drenched in pumpkin spice febreeze. HA! The next time I’m in town I’m going ham on some pumpkin and vanilla candles – I’m loving the idea of fall but NOT the dropping temperatures.

That’s all I know for today folks – thanks for reading! The writers block is still just killing me – leave a comment with a blog post idea guys! Help a girl out!

Please get rid of that plastic bag that Carver has his head in. Some friends of ours lost their little boy when he suffocated in a plastic bag like that.

I was just having that conversation with someone a few weeks ago about how I feel like I just run around all day cleaning dumped toys and mess all over the house. This is a great age but very tiring in many ways (and I only have one child).

Maybe you could do some regularly scheduled posts on a topic? Like your mom regularly features shows she watching/books she’s reading and mail she gets. Maybe something like that? Or maybe you could do a few here and there about recipes you’ve tried/love, toys or books the boys really love and you’d recommend, or maybe for the upcoming holidays you could feature any decorations you’ve put up, if you guys decorate?

FWIW as a reader I see you’ve mentioned writers block a few times but while I was reading a particular post I’ve never felt like the post was just filler or anything. I never would’ve thought you had writers block. I’ve always enjoyed all of the posts. Even though some are just what you guys have done over the weekend or how the day went, they’ve been very relatable and fun to read. Sometimes those are the best posts IMO. My favorite posts that your mom does have always been about the family and day to day happenings.

I hope your shoulder feels better soon. Were you ever able to get in to see anyone about it?

I don’t have any brilliant blog post ideas, but I really enjoy the “a day in the life” type posts. It takes me back to the days when I have a little guy around the house. For my kiddo it was all things space. He was sure he was going to be an astronaut. He changed his mind at about middle school when he realized how much math was required.
PS – The picture of Carver with his head in the plastic bag cracked me up.
